Mrs Burg (from St Mary's Middle School), her husband and her two daughters, Ellen and Katie, are going to be cycling from their home near Dorchester to our home in Edinburgh to raise money for Louis!!!
The journey is 362 miles and according to Google Maps would take 5 days and 23 hours to walk so it would probably take one and a half days to cycle it if you didn't stop!
Mrs Burg and her family won't be braving the elements (or the hills!) to cycle, but will be doing it from the comfort of their living room on their exercise bike while watching telly! A far more sensible option, we think :-)
Thanks guys! What a brilliant way to help Louis get his wheels!
The Mind and Body Studio in Kirkcaldy are organising a fantastic fundraising event in aid of Louis' wheels.
They will be having a fashion show evening at the Strathearn Hotel on the evening of Monday 22nd November. Tickets are only £5 and includes nibbles and a glass of wine. There will also be a hairdresser there so you can get your hair styled for the evening and you'll also be able to get your nails done. There will also be a raffle with fantastic prizes.
Many thanks to the Mind and Body Studio. If you would like more information about their health, fitness, hair and beauty services that they provide then have a look on their website or give them a call.
Major kudos goes to Steve and Sandra who are going to do a sponsored Fire Walk to raise money for Louis' snapdragon!
Their daughter, Helen, also came up with an idea to do a fundraising event called "Bath, beans and bikinis". We think this sounds fab! Helen, can you persuade the rest of your class to jump into a bath full of beans for charity??!
Anyone reading know any managers or PR people from Heinz who might donate a crate of tinned beans?!
Another option might be custard - I think it would be great fun to run on custard.....
If you would like more information about this event (the one with coals not beans or custard!) then see the poster below...
Update: This event is now taking place on Hogmanay!
Thank you so much everyone!! We've made it over the £1000 mark! We've raised 5% in less than a week, which is incredible!
£20,000 to go - That's just 20 companies donating £1000, or 200 people raising £100 through fun events, or 2000 people donating a tenner.
Can you help us? You could hold a fun fundraising event, perhaps a cake day or a dress up Halloween day at your work. Or if you feel very energetic you could cycle, run, swim or hop to help raise money for Louis. It's worth asking your employer if they would help you as some companies will match the funds raised by employees for charity.
This week we started our fundraising campaign for a Snapdragon powerchair for Louis!
Louis is our gorgeous son. He'll be 3 years old in January. Louis is bright and full of life, always wanting to explore the world around him. However, Louis can't walk unsupported, he can't stand unsupported, in fact he can't even sit up without help.
We don't have a diagnosis for Louis. The doctors at the Sick Kids have been investigating since he was one year old but we're nowhere near an answer. The Sick Kids will be sending us down to London for tests so fingers crossed at getting a diagnosis.
Limited mobility at a young age can restrict opportunities for learning and exploring the child's environment. So early access to mobility is essential for development. We want Louis to have as close to the same mobility and choice as any other toddler and this can be achieved with a powered chair with height adjustment - but it doesn't come cheap at £21,000!
Now we need to do all we can to raise these funds quickly, so that Louis can start to experience the world the same way other toddlers can.
We're trying to raise money for a Snapdragon powered wheelchair for our son, Louis. Anything you can do to help us would be awesome. Visit www.justgiving.com /digitallouis to make a donation or get in touch at iwannahelp @digitallouis.com if you would like to run a fundraising event :-)
Thank you all for your support!
